I needed some induction discs/plates to occasionally use with my commercial Breville/PolyScience cooktop (sold under the brand “Sage” in Europe). These cooktops have a temperature sensor underneath the pan, so I couldn’t use a diffuser with a heavy attached handle (the temperature sensor is spring-loaded, so the uneven weight would lift the diffuser away from the cooking surface).I used to perform quality testing at a medium-sized machine shop (probing/scanning parts for defects). After searching through hundreds of items/designs on Amazon, it was unsurprising that most of the listings are just extremely simple steel plates (seemingly very little thought about design or function). These diffusers have slight indentations in the metal that keep the plate slightly lifted above the cooktop surface (so they are easier to move, and also to allow attaching the handle without needing to slide the plate halfway off of the surface first).The manufacturer also didn’t “cheap out” on material (the thickness of the metal was specified as 3mm and measured 3.42mm).The only complaint/criticism I can come up with is that the “Up” and “Caution: Hot Surface” labels aren’t perfectly aligned with the rest of the part (it is probably aligned by hand once it is transferred to a machine to complete this step). This is an especially harsh critique for a simple/inexpensive part like this though (it probably wouldn’t be cost-effective for the manufacturer to make a jig to align each one).
