This is front motor mount for Toyota 2ng gen highlander and might be for other models too. Technically this is the torque strut mount and it is found on top on the passenger side of the engine. Its main purpose is to counter the twisting or rotating force of the engine as it passes the force to the transmission and into the wheels. There are other engine mounts and I do recommend to inspect all of them due to the failure of one of them will lead to failure of the others in my experience. After 120.000 miles and 23 years of being on the road, I think its best to take the opportunity to replace as much bushings that holds the engine and suspension parts and I started with this one being that it is the easiest to replace and access but I can also recommend buying all of them at once as they are usually cheaper as a set. Mine is not necessarily broken or loose. Only thing physically obvious upon visual inspections is that the bigger circle’s diameter is thicker on the original part but I am not sure if it will translate to earlier failure but the rubber are thick as expected and for some weird reason, the distance between the holes are a bit longer and I mean like 1/8 inch. It is enough to notice during installation as the hole will not line up perfectly but can be remedied by a bit of moving the engine with just your hand. Since it is technically floating in rubber bushings, it will accommodate some play. Bolts are removed by 14mm sockets. The engine side may need to be loosen to fit the width of the bushing, just make sure to tighten them on installation. Installation took me 15min and I took my time. All I need is the socket and wrench, a bit of moving the engine and I’m done. The other mounts will be harder so consider using professional help. So far engine sound is the same granted my old one is not broken but it if was broken, you can feel less vibration from the engine. [...]
